December is a fairly quiet month on the farm. There is a daily routine of feeding the cattle in the barns and scraping the yard clean. They are fed the hay bales we harvested last summer, and providing the weather isn’t too bad they take themselves out into the fields during the day.
As we’ve a barn free, we’ve popped another round bale feeder in, so that last years (2021) lambs can come in and out as they please.
In the middle of the month the rams were taken away from the ewes, so we shouldn’t get any lambs born after mid-May,
On dry days, I’ve been hedgelaying some of the more mature hedges to thicken them up and rejuvenate them.
As the grey days don’t lend themselves to taking photos, here’s a short video of some of the highlights of last year.
