If you have space to store it, buying a half lamb offers the best value - £10/kg with a half lamb typically being about 7kg (i.e. about £70) and sizewise will pack into a carrier bag.
A half lamb / hogget box will contain:
- 2 leg joints (typically 1.0 - 1.2 kg) or as a single joint in the 4 person pack
- 2 shoulders (typically 1.0 - 1.2 kg) or as a single joint in the 4 person pack
- Rib Rack or Rib chops
- 7 Loin Chops
We do these as a pre-order only, as we can then have them cut and packed exactly how you would like them, with the standard options being to have it cut into 2 or 4 person joint and pack sizes. It will generally be ready for collection or delivery 2 to 4 weeks after you order – but once you’ve placed your order we’ll be in touch to confirm everything.
As with all our other lamb / hogget, this is from one of our slow-grown Shetland x Icelandic sheep born and raised on our nature friendly farm. To minimise their carbon footprint, they are 100% grass-fed for life (i.e. they are never fed any cereals) which means they mature more slowly and so are called hoggets, which is the name given to lambs in their second year. As a result, their meat is a finer texture than ‘normal’ lamb and is best cooked gently to bring out a real rich flavour – several people have told us ‘they taste how lamb used to taste’. Grass-fed meat is also naturally high in antioxidants, Omega 3, vitamins and minerals.
1/2 lamb / hogget - £10/kg
As these are ordered in advance and weights vary between 6 and 8 kg, we don't take payment until it comes back from the butcher and we know how much it weighs. We'll then send you an invoice (@£10/kg), and you are welcome to pay be cash or preferably bank transfer. So as you go through the online checkout, please select the 'Pay Cash' option.
We also arrange with you whether you want to come and collect it (most people collect and combine it with a walk) or we can deliver it locally.
We can also overnight courier it fresh or frozen anywhere in England and Wales in an insulated box for £15.
